This generator was designed to charge a bank of three car batteries.  One of the goals was to have an easy way of attaching various sources of motion to it so it could be turned in a variety of ways depending on the situation in the field.  A common vehicle wheel bolt pattern was used in the main hub of the permanent magnet assembly to make future adaptability easy.
